Developed in the 1920s and named after its creator Joseph Pilates, Pilates is a series of exercise sequences that are designed to bring the body back into alignment and focus on strength, movement and flexibility. By working on the deep architectural structure of the body through the repetitive exercises and movements, ‘core stability’ is achieved and then maintained.
